India announced its partnership with the European Hydrogen Week, scheduled for November 2024, during the second day of the International Conference on Green (ICGH-2024) in New Delhi. The agreement aligns with India's strategy to meet European Union green regulations and boost its hydrogen exports.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) stated that India’s green hydrogen sector is expected to create over four crore jobs by 2050. Over 100 in India's green hydrogen push.
In addition, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between Chane Terminal from the Netherlands and ACME Cleantech from India to establish ammonia import terminals.The collaboration aims to strengthen India’s hydrogen infrastructure.
Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, highlighted the EU’s Emission Trading System (ETS) reforms during a session with Jorgo Chatzimarkakis CEO of Hydrogen Europe. “The ETS reforms are expected to help price carbon effectively, pushing hydrogen as a competitor to fossil fuels,” Agarwal said.
Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, discussed the challenges and opportunities in hydrogen development with Dr. Patrick Hartley of CSIRO, Australia. Jain noted that collaboration with countries like Australia would be crucial to scaling up hydrogen technology.
