Siemens Gamesa for the first time has directly linked a wind turbine to an electrolyser for the production of green hydrogen as part of the flagship H2Mare project, said Germany’s education and science ministry.
H2Mare aims to prove in principle that hydrogen can be produced from offshore wind power via electrolysers and other equipment directly integrated with individual turbines, but tests at a megawatt-scale facility in Floe, Denmark, have so far been carried out on land.
siemens gamesa has connected two electrolysers for hydrogen production to the wind turbine in the same way that will later place on the high seas with this setup the project team can also test the switching between two system said the german minestry which funded the r&d initative
