26 Feb 2024

A Milestone in Sustainable Manufacturing

Hisar, Haryana: In a major boost to India's clean energy ambitions, Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) is poised to inaugurate the country's first-ever green hydrogen plant dedicated to the stainless steel industry. The virtual ceremony, officiated by Union Steel Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia on February 27th, marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards sustainable manufacturing.

Paving the Way for Green Steel:

This state-of-the-art facility, developed in collaboration with Hygenco India Private Limited, signifies a crucial step towards JSL's commitment to environmental responsibility. The project aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions, targeting a reduction of around 2,700 metric tonnes annually and 54,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 20 years.

Leading the Charge:

JSL's green hydrogen initiative positions them as a frontrunner in the Indian steel industry's transition to clean energy. This aligns with the company's commitment to ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles and their pursuit of net-zero emissions and power conservation goals.

Beyond Stainless Steel:

The success of this project holds immense potential to inspire and pave the way for wider adoption of green hydrogen across various sectors in India. This clean energy alternative can contribute significantly to the nation's ambitious climate goals and propel the country towards a sustainable future.
